I have been painting on canvas for a long as I can remember.

When I was young I loved exploring the three dimensional medium of sculpture and seeing forms come to life. 

Throughout my years working in textile design I have explored many ways of expression through line and mark making, often visualising the finished piece and then experimenting en route to achieving a result that stimulates me visually. 

I draw on these experiences creatively to produce artwork that has an impressionistic quality whilst capturing the unique personality of the subject. 

These qualities evolve on the canvas very quickly by using fluid, loose and energetic mark making. At the precise moment when I feel I am drawn into the personality of my subject I know I can then slow down and start making the finer details come to life.
